Join me as I share some of the memories I and our friends have of Gandhar. Full versions of the images are available by clicking the thumbnails.

For me, getting used to being in a role playing game was awkward, to say the least. I'm naturally reclusive and I don't have many friends in the real world. URU/Myst Online is like the real world, thus I didn't make friends easily, or at least, comfortably. Uru people are exceptionally nice and helpful, so I guess friendship comes easy. But Gandhar made me feel comfortable. We chatted only a little in-game, but often on the message board. I felt connected to him and truly looked forward to being able to explore with him again at the re-opening.

I am so honored to have had Gandhar's help
with a few graphics for my Age Exploration Novel of M'nine.
Those office pictures he made for me will be the most treasured pieces I have.

Gandhar was a true Uru/Myst fan, participating well after the Cavern was closed and continued to encourage others on.

So often we heard him caring about others and encouraging them with such quotes as:
"Stay positive and most of all stay true..." - He said that to more than one individual during their time of need.

"I'm hoping to see you all in the VERY near future!!! I pray all is well."

Here is Gandhar's favorite view of all in the Myst world. At Myss Terrie's Bevin, the game continued in sharing favorite views and guessing where a person was standing in game.

Gandhar didn't stop exploring after the cavern closed.
He found a hole in his Relto and decided to see where it led.

He found a wonderful location that he turned into a home with the help of some friends.

He even loved Sharper's safe so much that he had to get one of his own.

Gandhar's presence is felt everywhere on the forums, a constant reminder of how privileged we are to have met and knew him as a friend. His absence has been and will continue to be felt deeply. Our hearts and good thoughts as we express them, be it through prayer, meditation, positive vibes, whatever, go out to his daughter Charura as she goes through the difficult times of dealing with her own loss. May she treasure the in-game memories of times spent with her father, and know that she has friends there should she need anything.

Memories

Gandhar's daughter (as One Last Stand) threw a URU party that was called "Last Stand" as Myss Terrie's Bevin good-bye celebration to the cavern. We met on March 30, 2008 and stood on the fissure, as Gandhar's daughter set the last pillar so we all fell through as a group. Not me, I took pictures. And not Gandhar, since they only had one computer, but he was right there with her.

Charura's comment afterwards: Thank you, for those that were able to make it, and to those that could not, I've totally enjoyed all the days we have had together. It's been a real growing experience for me. I can truly say that I have had fun throughout this whole MOUL thing and more than that, I have had fun with all of you.

DedHed's quote about it: Everyone falling through the fissure at the same time when the ground disappeared had to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Thanks, all!

Landru's quote about the experience: What a great time!! Thank you OneLastStand for opening your relto to us and for working so hard to make it fun. I agree with Ded...what a rush when the ground opened and we all fell. It has been a great run...and so much fun getting to know many of you and I hope that life remains good to you. If ever URU returns we need to have a grand reunion in OLS's relto! Live long and prosper....

Special tribute left by chrissifniotis for Gandhar and Charura on Myst Online: Uru Live Forums. Clicking the picture made for this takes you to the tribute song. Below is the special D'ni send off for Gandhar by chrissifniotis.

Yahvo, pahboy Gandhar, shehnte shehn b'Neesehv. Mishtah erthehdehr tomahn k'shehn b'tsahn ehdehr t'shorah. Amehn.

Translation: "Yahvo, bless Gandhar, take [send] him to (the) Clean Age. [Perfect Age] Construct a Sleep House for him to forever sleep [rest] in peace. Amen."

My tribute to Gandhar is doing a special run through URU in his honor. His journey is not over. I believe he found the ultimate linking book and is enjoying quite the exploration.

I invite you to make the same tribute to our friend with whatever game of Myst/Uru you keep loaded on your computer.
